Had a most disappointing dining experience at Chilli Padi tis evening. I was excited to introduce a foreign guest to the much raved about nonya food and I almost regretted it. Ordered 4 dishes of which I thought the standard and quality has fallen way below what I used to remember. That’s not the worst part; service was just beyond me!! Halfway through our meal there was a power failure. This went on for a good 20 minutes; and during this time none of the staff bothered to come and explain or apologize for the inconvenience. No candles; no contingency dim lights offered. We were left to eat in the dark. Finally the problem was rectified only after a restaurant guest rendered assistance. What I found most appalling was that almost immediately after the lights came on, one of the staff had the audacity to present the bill to us. It was literally shoved in my face.. I was astounded! There was no last orders, I was halfway through my meal and was still contemplating ordering dessert??!!! When I told the waiter I wasn’t done with my meal, he simply told me “O I’m sorry it’s almost 10 and we are closing”… WHAT?!!! SERIOUSLY??! I was most disgusted! I am embarrassed to entertain my guest to a once acclaimed “Michelin Guide” restaurant. It’s a real shame and I’m NEVER COMING BACK & FOR SURE NOT WORTH RECOMMENDING.

First time trying this restaurant and noticed the pricing is higher than other nonya restaurants. However, the taste of food is pretty good and portion wise is fair for the price. Will definitely come back again.

Food is great! The dry laksa is the best dish there!

Service staff wasn’t too pleased when my family and I walked in. We sat down and asked the server for recommendations and also asked him about certain food items on the menu. It was our first time there and to be honest, many of the items on the menu were very new to us. The staff did not bother explaining to us and he seems very impatient to have our orders taken down.

After taking our orders, he went to the kitchen. While admiring the beautiful decoration inside the restaurant, we accidentally overheard the staff complaining to his fellow service crew that he will have to go home late because of us.

Dear management, if leaving work on time is the number one priority for staff, then please instruct them to stop customers from entering the restaurant at timings close to closing time.

The food tastes good. Very stingy with rice though. Our family actually wanted to order a few more plates of rice but before we could do that, the receipt was already printed and placed on our table.

One of the dishes came out really slow. When it came out, we have already had it with our not-so-positive dining experience. We had that dished packed and brought it home.

We ordered Claypot sambal prawn but the prawns served were not fresh, the flesh was soft and some parts of the prawns were black. Not worth the price. Will not visit this restaurant again.
